For Students

Higher degree research (HDR) students

To consult the statistician after an experiment is finished is often merely to ask [them] to conduct a post mortem examination. [They] can perhaps say what the experiment died of. (Ronald Fisher, 1938. Sankhya 4: 14-17)

If you are doing a postgraduate research degree (MPhil, MSc or PhD), thanks to funding from the Graduate Research School, Stats Central is able to offer consulting services for free. We can provide you with free advice on the design of your study - preferably from the beginning! No matter what form your study takes, we can help you develop an effective design, which might save you time and money, or maximise the information you obtain from the resources you have at your disposal. We can also give you general direction on how to analyse your results. It is much more beneficial to talk to us from the start!

To make an appointment to see one of our consultants, please click the "Request Consultation" button below. It is strongly advised that your supervisor attend your first meeting with Stats Central. Please note due to limited resources we are unable to support honours or ILP students, unless you belong to one of our partner schools. For more information, see our Partner Schools page.
