The Incucyte SX5 is engineered for long-term, high throughput, widefield microscopy. The system is compatible with a range of plates and cell culture flasks in stable conditions (37°C temperature, stable humidity and 5% CO2), with automated imaging for long-term experiments.  

Images can be acquired over time and analysed in real-time. The SX5 supports a wider range of fluorescent imaging than the S3, with up to five fluorescent channels available. The acquisition software is loaded with a variety of analysis tools and modules, details below.

Common Applications

Long-term High-throughput Experiments 

With a capacity of holding up to 6x 384-well plates the IncyCyte has the potential to screen 2304 wells per experiment.  The software comes bundled with analysis tool to measure proliferation and tube formation which can be displayed as plate maps making it easy to see instantly how these parameters change between different wells/treatments.

Widefield Phase Contrast and Fluorescent Imaging 

Label-free phase contrast imaging enables the user to quickly and gently image cells using all objectives on the system. These images can be analysed with the inbuilt analysis software and be collected in combination with widefield fluorescent images.

Filters

The Incucyte SX5 can be used with interchangeable Optical modules, either the HD Phase/Green/Red module, or the HD Phase /Green/Orange/Near IR module.

Analysis Modules

Incucyte Cell-by-cell software module  

Cell analyses such as cell counts, or confluency can be analysed over time. This module can be useful for several applications such as cell proliferation and drug screening. 

Incucyte Spheroid software module 

Tumour spheroids can be imaged and analysed over time. This software provides the user with tools to quantify the growth and health of spheroids.  

Incucyte Spheroid software module 

Real-time measurements of cell migration can be used to understand cell motility. In combination with a WoundMaker, Wound Healing assays can be analysed on the Incucyte SX5.  

Incucyte Chemotaxis software module 

This module allows the user to quantify cells migrating though pores and adhering to the bottom of a membrane. 

Incucyte Neurotrack software module 

The Neurotrack module analyses neuronal activity by quantifying neuronal dynamics.  

Incucyte Organoid software module 

Module allows the imaging and analysis of organoid futures grown in multiwell plates for both quality control and assessing dynamics.
