Financial benefits of surface chemical analysis by Time-of-Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (‘ToFSIMS’)

This free talk on 22nd October 2019 - 1.30pm-2.30pm is by MWAC invited Prof. Ian W. Fletcher,  CSci CChem FRSC,  Visiting Professor, Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences, University of Surrey, England.

With his apologies to the TV game show, this talk will present a summary of the Time-of-Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (‘ToFSIMS’) analytical technique along with ten examples where surface chemical analysis has been of significant financial benefit to industry.  Examples will include painting issues, adhesion failures, particulate contamination, legal case support, semiconductor fabrication issues and catalyst deactivation.  Audience participation is welcome and there is a chance (but not much of one) to win $100.
