Instrument training service

MSI_Capabilities_1

MSI provides training services for users who would like to gain independent laboratory and instrument access for their own uses. Please visit MSI Lab - Instrument to check the available instruments in the lab and contact MSI (msi@unsw.edu.au) to discuss the research project and plan.

Our lab is located in Biological Mass Spectrometry Facility's space, so please complete laboratory induction with BMSF to gain card swipe access to the lab. Once the laboratory induction (Room 2002, E26 building) is completed, two sessions of instrumental training will be provided. In the first session, the staff will demonstrate how to operate the instrument, prepare samples, design experiments and analyse data. In the second session, the users will have the opportunity to demonstrate their proficiency with the instrument to the staff. Once users have completed the training sessions, we will provide an ACLS certificate and permit them to operate the instrument independently.

For more information about the registration steps for new users, please check MSI Lab - New Users

Analysis by staff

We provide staff-operated analysis services for users who are unable to visit MSI to complete instrument training. We specialise in the following areas:

  • BiaCore T200, BLItz and Monolith NT.115
    • Antibody-antigen binding kinetic/steady-state affinity measurement
    • Quick yes/no binding measurement
    • Low molecular weight compounds, peptides or proteins library binding screening
  • Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, gel electrophoresis and Western blotting

For projects that require tailored experimental designing (such as method development and further sample preparation/processing) or QSense Analyzer-operating service from MSI staff, please contact msi@unsw.edu.au directly.
