My Research Activities

UNSW Biorepository supports tens of different Collection Protocols.  My services involve:

  1. specimen receiving, booking, processing, storage, record keeping, updating participants and specimen information in the database.
  2. according to clients' requirements, the following specimens may be processed as:
  • Whole blood to plasma, buffy coat, frozen cell pellet, DNA and RNA for -80oC storage;
  • Whole blood to serum for -80oC storage;
  • Bone marrow aspirate (BMA) to frozen cell pellet for -80oC storage and cryopreserved cells for liquid nitrogen vapour phase storage;
  • Fresh/frozen tissue to small pieces for liquid nitrogen vapour phase storage;
  • Formalin-Fixed Paraffin-Embedded (FFPE) tissue blocks and slides to be receiving, booking, allocation, data entry and storage;
  • Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) to aliquots for -80oC storage;
  • Saliva to DNA & RNA -80oC;
  • Buccal swap to DNA -80oC;
  1. Whenever particular specimens are requested, they will be retrieved or processed on demand and the biospecimen products are issued with a required info list.
  2. Detailed data entry, search and query in web based OpenSpecimen, our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  3. Accept large number of specimen’s deposit for storage with Bulk uploading for accurate information provided on all patient and specimen data.
  4. Equipment accurate utilisation and great maintenance, QIAsympony SP, QIAgirity, Qiagen Tissue Lyser LT, etc.
