Biography

Dr. Yokasundery Muniandy holds a Ph.D. from the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at UNSW. Her thesis is titled "Compositional Heterogeneities in CrMnFeCoNi High-entropy Alloys (HEAs)". The focus of her Ph.D. research is on understanding the compositional mechanisms in near-equiatomic multi-component metallic alloys. She explores the impact of various mechanical and metallurgical factors using electron microscopy-based techniques.

During her Ph.D., Dr. Muniandy actively engaged in various microscopy and microanalysis tasks, including sample preparation, data acquisition, optimization, and comprehensive scientific analysis. She conducted her research at Microscopy Australia nodes, particularly within the UNSW MWAC Electron Microscope Unit (EMU) and the Sydney Microscopy and Microanalysis (SMM) facility at the University of Sydney. A significant aspect of her research involved using atom probe tomography (APT) in conjunction with SEM-based microstructure characterization techniques such as SEM-based WDXS-EPMA, EDXS, and EBSD instruments.

Currently at EMU, Dr. Muniandy holds the position of a Technical Officer. In this role, she is responsible for the day-to-day operation, training users, assisting users in standard sample preparation, and supporting users across scanning electron microscopes (SEMs), transmission electron microscopes (TEMs), as well as providing additional support for various instruments.
