Thermo Trace DSQ

The Thermo DSQ II GC-MS instruments are our most up-to-date instruments for analysis of compounds that are sufficiently volatile to enter the gas phase intact. The Mass Spectrometer of the Trace DSQ II GC-MS instrument at our Upper Campus facility can be operated in either electron impact (EI+) positive ionization mode, positive ion chemical ionization (CI+) mode, or electron capture negative ionization mode (ECNI or CI-). The Quadrupole MS gives nominal m/z assignments, accurate to +/- 0.2 Da.

Thermo TSQ Access

The TSQ Quantum is a high performance triple stage quadrupole mass spectrometer. It includes a syringe pump, a divert/inject valve, an atmospheric pressure ionisation (API) source, and the Xcalibur™ data system. You can operate the mass spectrometer in either electrospray ionisation (ESI) mode or atmospheric pressure chemical ionisation (APCI) mode. Typically, polar compounds such as amines, peptides, and proteins are best analysed by ESI, and non-polar compounds such as steroids are best analysed by APCI.

The TSQ XLS is a triple quadrpole mass spectrometer and it is equipped with gas chromatographic sample separation.  The instrument is capable of Electron Impact and Chemical Ionization modes and can operate in either positive and negative ion polarities.  The instrument is used predominately for small molecule quantitiave analysis.

Waters/Micromass Q-TOF Ultima

The Waters Q-TOF Ultima is a quadrupole, orthogonal acceleration time-of-flight tandem mass spectrometer. It equipped with ESI and nanoESI interfaces. It has high resolution, sensitivity and mass accuracy. The Q-TOF Ultima is mainly used for LC-coupled MSMS analysis of peptides derived from gel spots and bands, accurate mass determination of biomolecules, protein post-translational modification studies, e.g. glycopeptide mapping.
